Adi Godrej is Chairman Emeritus of The Godrej Group, which is mainly privately held, over a 100 year-old family conglomerate, with operations in India and several other countries.

Mr. Adi Godrej has been President of several Indian Trade and Industrial Bodies and associations.

He is the Past Chairman of the Board of the Indian School of Business, and Past President of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He has been a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the MIT Sloan School of Management, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and a member of the Wharton Asian Executive Board. Mr. Godrej is also a patron of the Himalayan Club.

Vivek Gambhir is Managing Director and CEO, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).

Vivek was the key architect of GCPL's 3 by 3 strategy and has been instrumental in driving the company's efforts to become a leading emerging markets FMCG leader.

He joined Godrej Industries in 2009 as Chief Strategy Officer responsible for guiding overall Group strategy, conducting portfolio analysis and driving special projects. He helped define the CREATE portfolio approach and the 10X10 objective for the Group.

Prior to joining the Godrej Group, Vivek was a partner at Bain & Company, one of the world's leading business consulting firms. He worked with Bain in Boston, Singapore and New Delhi. He was a founding member of Bain's consulting operations in India and led the firm's FMCG practice in India.

Vivek is an Independent Director on the Boards of Metropolis Healthcare Limited and Samast Technologies Private Limited. He serves as President of the Harvard Business School club in India and is an advisor to the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation. Vivek also writes a weekly blog on leadership called 'Monday-8AM'

He has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS (Computer Science) and BA (Economics) from Lafayette College.

Vivek is married to Roopika, who is a photographer and a social worker. They have three children, Janya, Aarav and Imara.


Nisaba Godrej is Executive Chairperson, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).

Nisaba has been a key architect of GCPL's strategy and transformation in the last decade. In 2007, she initiated and led Project Leapfrog, which created a playbook for GCPL to accelerate domestic organic growth through innovation and consolidation, and to become a more global company by investing in emerging markets outside of India. Over the last ten years, GCPL's market capitalisation has increased twenty-fold and GCPL has developed a very strong, engaged and ambitious team, and is consistently ranked as a great place to work. She has also institutionalised design driven thinking and directly leads product development. Nisaba is

passionate about identifying and developing the talent required for the Godrej Group's future growth. Through her oversight of the Group HR function for Godrej Industries and associate companies, she has made Godrej a more meritocratic and highly performance driven organisation, while keeping the Group's values front and center. She has also spearheaded the Group's Good & Green agenda to drive more inclusive and sustainable growth. Her previous assignments within the Godrej Group have included the successful turnaround of Godrej Agrovet and the creation of a Group strategy function to oversee the Group's portfolio. In addition to GCPL, Nisaba is on the Board of Directors of Godrej Agrovet, VIP Industries and Teach For India.

Nisaba has a BSc degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is passionate about girls' education, the human mind, design, trekking and equestrian sports. She lives in Mumbai with her husband, Kalpesh, and their children, Zoran and Aidan.


Nadir Godrej is a Non-executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). He is the Managing Director of Godrej Industries and Chairman of Godrej Agrovet. He is also a Director of numerous firms including Godrej & Boyce Co Ltd, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, Indian Hotels Co Ltd and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

A veteran of the Indian industry, Nadir has played an important role in developing the animal feed, agricultural input and chemicals businesses owned by Godrej. His active interest in research related to these areas has resulted in several patents in the field of agricultural chemicals and surfactants.

With his tremendous experience and expertise, Nadir has also contributed to the development of a variety of industries by participating keenly in industry bodies such as the Compound Livestock Feed Manufacturers Association of India, Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association, and Oil Technologists' Association of India.

Currently, Nadir is the President of Alliance Française de Bombay. For his contribution to Indo-French relations, the French Government has honoured him with the awards of "Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite" and "Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur".

A Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Chemical Engineering from Stanford University, Nadir completed his MBA from the Harvard Business School. He lives in Mumbai, India with his wife and three children.


Jamshyd Godrej is a Non-executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), and is the Chairman of the Board of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, USA.

Jamshyd Godrej is the former Chairman of Ananta Aspen Centre (previously known as Aspen Institute India), Chairman & Trustee of Ananta Centre. He is the President of World Wide Fund for Nature - India. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, India Resources Trust and Council on Energy, Environment and Water. He is a Director of World Resources Institute, USA. He is also a Trustee of the Asia Society, USA. He is the Past President of Confederation

of Indian Industry and also the Past President of the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association.

Jamshyd Godrej is the Chairman of the CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre. The Centre is housed in a LEED Platinum demonstration building which is the first green building in India and the greenest building in the world at the time when it was rated. The Green Business Centre is a Centre of Excellence for green buildings, energy efficiency, energy conservation, non-conventional energy sources, water policy, water conservation, etc.

Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. manufactures and markets refrigerators; washing machines; air conditioners; office furniture; home furniture; security equipment for banks (such as safes,

strong room doors, bank lockers, etc.) and for commercial establishments and homes; locks and latches, forklift trucks and warehousing equipment; process equipment for chemical, petrochemical, refineries and allied industries; precision tools for sheet metal, zinc, aluminium; real estate development.

The Godrej group are leaders in home appliances, consumer durables, office equipment, industrial products, consumer products and services.

Jamshyd Godrej is an ardent yachting enthusiast and has done extensive cruising along the west coast of India, the Baltic & North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and in the Mediterranean Sea.

The President of India conferred on Jamshyd Godrej the "Padma Bhushan" on 3rd April 2003.


Tanya Dubash is a Non-executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). She is Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer of the Godrej Group and is responsible for reinventing the Godrej Brand and charged with evolving the Group to a more Brand-driven organisation.

Tanya is a Director on the Boards of several Godrej Group companies including Godrej Industries Limited, Godrej Consumer Products Limited and Godrej Agrovet Limited. She is also the Chairperson of Godrej Nature's Basket. She heads the Strategic Marketing Group (SMG) that guides the Godrej Masterbrand and portfolio strategy, and chairs a Marketing Council comprising Group Marketing Heads.

Tanya is also on the Board of AIESEC. She is a Trustee of Brown University and a member of the Brown - India Advisory Council. She was recognised by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader in 2007.

She is AB cum laude, Economics & Political Science, Brown University, USA, and an alumnus of the Harvard Business School.


Mahendran is a seasoned entrepreneur. He was Managing Director, Godrej Consumer Products from 2010 to 2013 and led the company's internationalisation efforts. In his earlier role as the Managing Director of Godrej Sara Lee, Mahendran played a pivotal role and steered the fortunes of the company since its inception and nurtured the Good Knight brand into an acknowledged 'Super Brand'.

Prior to his association with the Godrej Group, Mahendran was a partner with M/s R G N Price & Co before joining Transelektra Domestic Products Limited, as an Executive Director in 1987.

On Transelektra's takeover by the Godrej Group in 1994, he was nominated as Managing Director of the Company by the Godrej Group and continued in this capacity after Sara Lee Corp. acquired a 51% stake in 1995.

Mahendran is a founder member and President of the Home Insect Control Association (HICA) and an acknowledged authority on household pest control. He is also a Promoter-Director of Harvey Heart Hospitals, Chennai, a super-specialty hospital in cardiac care, and a founder member of the Great Lakes Institute of Management.

Mahendran served on the board of the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and is on several industry forums such as FICCI, CII, Crop Care Federation of India and the Pest Control Association of India. Mahendran graduated from Madras Loyola College in 1976 and proceeded to complete his Chartered Accountancy in 1979.


Aman Mehta is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). He has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Delhi University. He has over 35 years of experience in various positions with the HSBC Group. He was the Manager, Corporate Planning at HSBC's headquarters in Hong Kong.

He was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC USA Inc., the New York-based arm of HSBC Holdings plc which oversaw HSBC group companies in the Americas, before being appointed as Deputy Chairman of HSBC Bank Middle East, based in Dubai with responsibility for the Group's operations in the Middle East region.

Aman was re-appointed General Manager International of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in February 1998, Executive Director International in May 1998 and Chief Executive Officer in January 1999.

Aman also became Chairman of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad on January 1, 1999 and a Director of HSBC Bank Australia Limited.


Bala Balachandran began his teaching career in 1960 while a graduate student at Annamalai University, India. In 1967, he moved to the University of Dayton and in 1971, to Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he taught management courses while working on his doctorate. In 1973, he joined the Kellogg Graduate School of Management faculty. From 1979-83, he chaired the Department of Accounting and Information Systems and Decision Sciences. He is also Director of the Accounting Research Center.

Professor Balachandran's teaching interests include managerial accounting, auditing, management information systems, and mathematical programming.

He is one of three Kellogg faculty members who started the Information Resource Management Program (IRM) at Northwestern in 1974. He has authored more than 55 research articles and is currently writing a managerial accounting textbook with emphasis on cost management in an automated manufacturing environment. He is department editor in accounting for Management Science, associate editor for The Accounting Review and on the editorial boards of Contemporary Accounting Research, and the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance.

Professor Balachandran's research deals with performance evaluation, cost management, audit planning, allocation models, and forecasting. His recent work includes auditors' legal liability and game theoretic cost allocation models with transfer pricing. His work has earned numerous scholastic honors, awards, and fellowships, and he serves as a consultant to senior management in industry, as well as to the U.S. Air Force, in the areas of accounting, forecasting, and strategic decision support systems. He has provided executive education for various companies and the government and is the Program Director for "Managing Cost Information for Effective Strategic Decisions", a 3-day programme conducted at the James L. Allen Center each year during the spring and fall.

Bharat Doshi is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).

He joined Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) in 1973 as an Executive and was elevated to its Board as Executive Director in 1992. In November 2013, he transited from his position as Executive Director & Group CFO to Non-Executive Director. Thereafter, in August 2015, he stepped down from his position of Director of M&M. Bharat was the Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Limited. He is the Chairman of Mahindra Intertrade Limited.

Bharat was nominated as a Director on the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India in March 2016.

Bharat is a Trustee of the Mahindra Foundation and the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust. He is also on the Board of Governors of The Mahindra United World College of India. He is a Director on the Board of Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations, a foreign policy think tank in Mumbai.

Bharat was a Member of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) constituted Working Group to examine a range of emerging issues pertaining to regulation of the NBFC (non-banking financial companies) sector. He was also a Member of the RBI constituted Committee on Comprehensive Financial Services for Small Businesses and Low-Income Households (CCFS).

Bharat was adjudged "India's Best CFO" by the leading business fortnightly Business Today (India Today Group Publication) in April 2005. He was also conferred the CFO of the Year Award for financial excellence by IMA India, an associate of The Economist Group, in December 2005. In November 2007, Bharat was honoured with the CNBC CFO of the Year Award. In March 2011, he was inducted by CFO India as a Founding Member to the CFO Hall of Fame in recognition of an exemplary career and a lifetime of contribution to the field of Finance. In February 2013, Bharat was awarded the CA Business Achiever - Corporate award for his exceptional performance and achievements in the sphere of business.


D. Shivakumar is an Independent Director of the company. Shiv as he is popularly known, is Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. Before Pepsico, Shiv was with Nokia for eight years, running India and then the Emerging Markets operations.

Shiv is a Marketer and CEO. He has run over 34 brands in his career across Unilever, Philips and Nokia. Shiv is a growth manager, having grown every brand and geography he has managed through Innovation, new business models and eco system partnerships. Shiv is a good coach and invests time and energy in growing people.

Shiv writes regularly for the business press on emerging markets, on brands, on consumers and leadership, followership. Shiv also teaches in Business schools across the world.

Shiv has been awarded many times over for Marketing, for leadership and for turning around businesses. The one that's dear to his heart is the "Most Distinguished Alumnus award" from his alma mater IIM Calcutta bestowed on him in 2011.

He was one amongst nine to get the Most Distinguished Alumnus award in the first 50 years of IIM Calcutta.

Shiv's pioneering work in telecom has become case studies in Harvard, Ivy and ISB.

Shiv is an Independent Director on the Board of Godrej Consumer Products Limited and is on the Board of Governors of IIM Ahmedabad.

Shiv loves reading biographies, and is an avid sports watcher.


Ireena Vittal is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). She is recognised as a thought partner to global and local consumer-facing companies eager to build large-scale, profitable businesses in emerging markets. With a perspective across both developed and emerging markets, she helps companies define dynamic growth portfolios, assemble effective local top teams, and re-craft business models.

She has also served governments and foundations to design and implement solutions core to India's development, such as sustainable rural growth and inclusive urban development.

She was a founding member of the McKinsey global emerging markets practice and of the economic development practice. She is also a much valued counsellor to leaders, who seek her practical judgment and empathetic coaching in an always evolving, often tough market. Ireena graduated in electronics and has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta.

The Board of Directors of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(GCPL) has appointed Ireena as the Lead Independent Director with effect from Nov 6, 2019. As a lead independent Director, she is entrusted with the following responsibilities in GCPL.

  • Provide leadership to the independent directors, chair the Independent Directors meeting;
  • Liaise on their behalf and ensure the Board's effectiveness to maintain high-quality governance of the organization;
  • Taking a lead role, along with Chairperson in the Board evaluation process;
  • Any other role as may be assigned by the Board.

Narendra Ambwani is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). He is a professionally trained executive coach and business advisor. He brings with him experience of over 34 years of work with renowned multi-national Johnson & Johnson. He was Managing Director in Indonesia for 5 years followed by appointment as MD in India in 1995.

He completed his corporate career in April 2009. Narendra serves on boards of leading corporates in India and acts as business strategy advisor.


Omkar Goswami is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). He is the Founder and Chairman of CERG Advisory Private Limited. CERG is the acronym for the Corporate and Economic Research Group. Its objectives are to use Indian as well as international resources to provide best in class:

  • Research and analytics on markets, industries and businesses.

Pirojsha Godrej is a Non-executive Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), and Executive Chairman of Godrej Properties. In the years that he has led the company, Godrej Properties has been one of the fastest growing real estate developers in India and for the first time in fiscal year 2016, emerged as India's largest publicly listed real estate developer by sales.

He is the recipient of several recognitions in recent years, including the 'Green Champion Award from the Indian Green Building Council' in 2016, 'Best CEO of the Year at the Construction Times Awards' in 2015, and 'Best People CEO Award by the National Human Resource Development Network' in 2014.

Pirojsha holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's degree in International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University, and an MBA from Columbia Business School.


Ndidi Nwuneli is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL). She is the managing partner of Sahel Consulting which works across West Africa, unlocking the agriculture and nutrition potential in the region. She is also the co-founder of AACE Foods, which was established in 2009 to fight malnutrition, reduce post-harvest losses among smallholder farmers and displace imports. She is the founder of LEAP Africa which inspires, empowers and equips a new cadre of principled, disciplined and dynamic young leaders in Africa.

Ndidi started her career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, working in their Chicago, New York and Johannesburg Offices. She holds an M.B.A. from

Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree with honors from the Wharton School of the

University of Pennsylvania. She was a Senior Fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business & Government at the Harvard Kennedy School and an Aspen Institute New Voices Fellow.

Ndidi was recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and received a National Honor from the Nigerian Government. She was listed as one of the 20 Youngest Power African Women by Forbes. Ndidi serves on the boards of Nestle Nigeria Plc., Nigerian Breweries Plc. (Heineken), Fairfax Africa Holdings Canada, the World Vegetable Center, Royal DSM Sustainability Board, Netherlands, and the Center for Memories.

Ndidi is the author of “Social Innovation in Africa: A Practical Guide for Scaling Impact," published by Routledge.

She is a TED Global speaker and her work has been featured on CNN, BBC and a range of international and local media outlets.


Pippa Tubman Armerding is a lawyer and business professional with 20 years of experience operating across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Throughout her career Pippa has worked in multi-cultural, global environments, providing sophisticated legal and strategic advice to multi-national clients. Pippa is passionate about Africa and opportunities which enable her to use her broad experience to contribute to the development of the continent and make a difference in the lives of its people.

Pippa is currently Director of the Harvard Business School (HBS) Africa Research Office where she is the primary lead for HBS activities on the continent. In her role Pippa is focused on developing and strengthening relationships with business and

academic leaders across sub-Saharan Africa, enabling HBS engagement and activities on the continent and supporting the deepening of HBS faculty understanding of African management issues, trends and practices, to develop locally relevant case studies and materials for use in business education around the world.

Prior to joining HBS, Pippa was an independent legal & strategy consultant engaged in projects including those designed to empower and educate young Africans, particularly girls. She was also Legal & Corporate Affairs Director for Microsoft South Africa where as chief legal officer and member of the leadership team she was responsible for all the company's legal and corporate affairs matters.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Pippa held

several leadership roles with The Coca-Cola Company across Africa. She served as Director of Pan-African Strategic Initiatives driving the acceleration of still beverages across the continent through exports. In this role, Pippa was also responsible for management of the Pan-Africa System Council of senior Company and Bottler leaders. While at The Coca-Cola Company, Pippa also served as General Counsel for Coca-Cola East & Central Africa based in Nairobi, Kenya where she was responsible for the company's diverse legal affairs across more than 38 countries in the region.

Pippa began her legal career as an attorney with the corporate law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York and Paris where she represented U.S. and international corporations and financial institutions in cross-border securities, mergers & acquisitions and banking

transactions and provided analysis and advice to clients on complex and novel aspects of international corporate law.

Pippa is admitted to the New York State bar and received her J.D. in international law from New York University School of Law. She received a B.A. in Government cum laude from Harvard University and is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School General Management program.

Pippa is a member of the board of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls and of the Harvard University Alumni Association of South Africa, She is also the author of "National Jurisprudence in International Tribunals", in International Law Decisions in International Courts, published by Transnational, 1996.


Sumeet Narang is an Independent Director, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL).

He is the Founder of Samara Capital, an India focused investment firm with strong focus on growth buyouts. Prior to founding Samara Capital in late 2006, Sumeet briefly worked at Goldman Sachs, New York, in their Proprietary Investments Group. From 2001-04, he worked with Citigroup India across various functions based out of Delhi and Hyderabad. He has also worked with the Fiat Group in Italy and India. Sumeet earned a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and John Loeb Fellow. He also has a Master's in Business from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, where he was an Aditya Birla

Scholar, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Samara Capital has a strong focus in the consumer space and Sumeet has had the opportunity to evaluate and/or invest in multiple companies in the sector across different segments such as retail (including food and grocery retail), quick service restaurants, branded apparel, personal and beauty care, etc. Sumeet sits on the boards of many of these companies and has actively contributed in their growth journeys, some of which have now become market leading companies in their respective segments.
